The lamp on the red base was made by the well-known German Doria Werke company (founded in 1945 in Sonnfeld near Coburg), which had a great reputation in those years, producing exclusive lighting elements for the German and foreign market. Great German designers like Wilhelm Braun or former Bauhaus student Wolfgang Tümpel cooperated with Doria Werke. The company became famous for making the biggest lamp in the world - in the sixties, they created a 10 meters long crystal chandelier for a client from Saudi Arabia!
The lamp came to us with a shattered base. The repair included gluing and retouching of the crack line on the inner side of the glass
The photo shows the gluing process - before and after filling with resin. Thanks to the index of refraction identical to the refraction index in the glass, the crack line becomes almost invisible.
