Mateusz Choróbski "What the barbarians have not done"
The exhibition "What the barbarians have not done", in its most obvious layer, focuses on the concepts of poverty and wealth. Concepts on the opposite poles of the ownership scale are shifted - Mateusz Choróbski deprives this scale of the measure, making scarcity and luxury begin to exist in some strange state of connection. The small coins become columns, the glass ceiling collapses, and the golden chamber is empty. In stripped halls, we deal with the issues of creation and destruction, ennoblement and devaluation, norms and not fitting into them, observing and being under observation, producing and abandoning production, aesthetic and biological needs. We also have sentiment and irony, monumentality and intimacy, poetry and exact calculations, momentum and asceticism, as well as wasted opportunities, decayed ideals and statistical abuses.
